Do you ever feel like you are asking your pre-teen a bunch of questions but getting nothing back but crickets?

I noticed the timing of my questions – I was asking them mostly when it was right for me. It didn’t even cross my mind to think of – or better yet pray about when to engage with them!
I also thought about the way I worded things. Was I asking yes or no questions? Why would I then expect a lengthy answer to get to their heart?
I realized I needed to do some tweaking.
I started small and intentionally. I prayed for timing and asked better questions. I built in ways to encourage and build them up.
