I clearly remember thinking three things that day while sitting in church. Our Pastor announced that there would be a Bible Journaling class held in the upcoming weeks.

Why Bible journaling? I thought. I’m not artsy so what am I even thinking about it for! I’m sure it’s too expensive to start.
I quickly dismissed it and moved on.
Little did I know that Bible journaling would actually become something I enjoy and we sometimes do together as a family. I also didn’t know God was going to lead me to create an Intro to Bible Journaling Course to teach to the tweens at our local Homeschool Co-op (and now you can grab it for your child as a Free E-course here!) His plans were certainly different than mine 🙂
Once I learned a little more about Bible Journaling, understood what supplies were actually needed to get started AND was confident that I didn’t need to be an artist to do it,it all kind of came together for me.
If you are at that point of just getting started or only looking into it, welcome!
I wanted to reach out to you today to share some of my journey and provide you with some resource options for all skill levels and price ranges. This mini-series will help answer those 3 common questions I had.
Why Bible Journaling?
Bible Journaling is writing, coloring, taking notes, and in other ways creatively expressing yourself in your Bible or in a companion notebook alongside your Bible.
Bible journaling is an act of worship. Pray and use this as worship time.
Bible Journaling itself is personal. It documents our own walk with God. He speaks thru His word and I listen. Then I help it sink in with journaling.
It’s also personal by diving into God’s word to understand and then expressing what we learned as a family when we study together. Like an old-fashioned Bible with a family history in the front, I am sharing our legacy of faith through my drawings, scribbles, markings, and stories.
Bible Journaling is as unique as you are – God made you an individual!
Are you starting to see that it’s not about spending a lot of money and being naturally creative in order to be “good” at Bible Journaling? What matters most is your desire to spend time with God and in His Word!
Isaiah 55:11 tells us,
so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth;
it shall not return to me empty,
but it shall accomplish that which I purpose,
and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.
Every moment we spend in God’s Word is worthwhile. Please don’t believe the lie that it only “counts” if you spend a ton of time in Bible Study, because what happens then?
“I didn’t’ have enough time to do Bible Study today.”
Yep. Been there. And I want to help you make sure that doesn’t happen.
O – Observe. What about this passage was especially meaningful to you?
A – Application. How does this apply to your life today?
P – Pray. Pray for guidance and direction as you apply this truth to your life.
You can then take that mini study, any passage from your reading plan, S.O.A.P., devotional or whatever you are working through and do a little Bible Journaling to dig in further and as an act of worship! There really is no right or wrong way to do it.
There is a Free Bible Journaling Printables email series to help you dip your toes in and give it a try! You can find out more about it and sign up here!
Still feeling unsure? I get it!
Bible journaling is certainly exciting, but it’s also overwhelming.
There are so many artistic options and potential directions to explore. I used to find it all so overwhelming I thought I would just skip the whole thing.
Can you relate?
That’s why we’re here. I knew if I was overwhelmed with Bible Journaling, other people must be too.
She has developed the Trust in the Lord Bible Journaling Kit that walks you step-by-step through how to Bible Journal. It’s done in an easy – non-intimidating way that even works for the not-so-creative people like myself!
It’s also awesome to have support in your journey. She has a Free exclusive FB group where she’s having flash giveaways, videos, tutorials and encouragement the rest of the week! I would love to see you there.
I just know if I can do this YOU can too! Remember Bible Journaling is as unique as you are – God made you an individual!
