It’s ok, let’s be honest.

Have you ever thought “I’m not a good pray-er?”

{It may not be a word but it should be based on how many times I’ve heard it from Moms!}

What about “I wish I could pray <more/better/longer> for my daughter but I don’t know how”.

or maybe you just wish you were more intentional in prayer for her?

Mom, it’s ok!

I have an awesome resource to share with you today that will help in any of those situations!

My Friend Teri Lynne Underwood from Prayers for Girls just released a book called Praying for Girls: Asking God for the Things They Need Most and let me tell you, friend, it is incredible!

I “internet met” Teri Lynne a while back and was immediately taken by her heart for our Girls and to encourage #girlMoms. I have been blessed for quite a while by her posts and her prayer calendar  <you will want to grab yours here>  So when I found out that she had this book being released I jumped on the opportunity to help spread the word and review a copy for myself!

She did not disappoint!

Praying for Girls Book Review Like Minded Musings

Beginning with page 3 my heart was saying amen… seriously page 3!

Whether you are seasoned in prayer or just starting out, prayer can be overwhelming. I don’t know about you, but for me, each day can bring new challenges, fears or questions I need to lay out before the Lord in prayer. Praying for our girls can challenge us and grow us. And what better way to do that than by praying God’s word back to Him and over our girls!

And then this reminder…

We don’t have to be perfect pray-er, nor do our prayers have to be perfect, because the God who hears us and loves us- and our girls – is perfect and perfectly able.

The book helps take the fear and overwhelm out of praying for our girls. It has over 200 scripture based prayers to help guide you and build your confidence in praying for your daughter no matter what her age! Teri Lynne covers five key areas of our daughter’s lives–her identity, heart, mind, relationships, and purpose.

Renewing Our Mind

One of my favorite parts is chapter 11 on renewing our mind. Not only is it personal to me because Teri Lynne and I share a great love for coffee -wink- but so much more. She beautifully conveys the importance of renewing our mind in our daily, often minute-by-minute walk with the Lord.

But she doesn’t leave you with just the importance of it, she lays out actionable steps for you to take. And if you know me at all you know I am BIG on “heart + action”.

It’s something I wish I would have grasped years ago. A hugely important (and often missing) piece in the “How to live as a Christian” puzzle. It is what I whole heartedly pray that our children will grasp at a young age.

Here’s a peek at how she worded it.

Great tips that any Mom can use or adapt to the season they are in!

Easy to Read and Apply

Her stories are sweet and relatable.  The scriptures and prayers are beautiful and powerful! And she also prays just for Moms too! Rounding out the book are the “Girl Talk” conversation starters and fun activities to help us guide our daughters into becoming godly women. She has them broken down into sections of “Little Girls” ◊ “Middle Girls” ◊ “Big Girls ◊ which is so helpful and good for Moms with children any age.

I really can’t recommend this book enough. If you are a girl Mom of any age, I believe it should be added to your “battle box” of parenting resources!

From one Mom to another, thank you, Teri Lynne, for putting into words what God put in your heart!

You can grab your copy on Amazon or anywhere books are sold. Then come back and let me know what you think or join us in our Private Tween to Teen Parenting Encouragement Facebook Group and share your thoughts!

PS An added bonus? My one sweet boy is being prayed for in the same way with this book as I pick out the scripture based prayers for him too!

Talk to you soon!

Lee

O Lord, You have pleaded the case for my soul; You have redeemed my life. Lamentations 3:56
