“My faith rests not upon what I am or shall be or feel or know, but in what Christ is, in what He has done, and in what He is now doing for me. Hallelujah!” – Charles Spurgeon
Another day comes to a close. My mind replays the day’s events.
What did today say about me as a Christ follower, as a Wife, as a Mom? Did I do a “good enough job” or did I fail once again?
Images, advertisements, social media, status quo, others opinions, my emotions, my past, my shame, the pressure from inside me… SO many things were fighting for my attention, telling me in some way or another who I needed to be.
But who am I really? What is my true identity?
In a world where we can feel pressed on every side, it is crucial to know our true identity in Christ. We need His filter to purge out the impurities of life around us so that we can keep our eyes fixed on who He says we are.
When we grasp fully that our identity is secured in Christ, our whole perspective changes. To solidify this in our hearts we need to be in God’s word hearing truth about ourselves from the source. Here are 10 Bible Verses to get you started!
What is My Identity in Christ? 10 Bible Verses You Need to Know!
You Are Chosen
1 Peter 2:9
But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.
You Are Adopted
Ephesians 1:5-6
In love, He predestined us for adoption to Himself as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of His will, to the praise of his glorious grace, with which He has blessed us in the Beloved.
You Are Created in His Image
Genesis 1:26-27
Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, after Our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” So God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.
You Are Fearfully and Wonderfully Made
For you formed my inward parts; You knitted me together in my mother’s womb.
I praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are Your works;
my soul knows it very well.
You Were Bought With A Price
For you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.
You Are Called God’s Friend
John 15:15
No longer do I call you servants, for the servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you.
You Are Blameless in God’s Sight
Ephesians 1:4
Even as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before Him.
You Are Loved
But God shows His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
You Are The Home of The Holy Spirit
Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God?
You Are Forgiven
1 John 1:9
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
